A NEW Black Tea: Organic Royal Golden Goddess is a smooth, full-bodied, high-quality golden tips tea (Black Tea) that smells deliciously of caramel and brown sugar, and it has just arrived in the store. This black tea has baked fruit and honey flavors with an earthy, long-lasting finish that both tea newbies and connoisseurs will enjoy.

Organic Royal Golden Goddess comes from a tea plantation that sits at an altitude of 4,200 to 6,000 feet; yep, that's way up there. I found their harvesting and processing intriguing, so I thought I'd give you a glimpse into how this tea is made and what happens before it ever gets to us.

This tea is unique because, during the second flush (summer season), only one, sometimes two, leaves and the bud are carefully plucked from the plant.

The tea leaves are harvested by hand, which is labor intensive but allows for selecting only the best leaves and buds. No automation is ever used for this tea or any tea produced on this plantation, which I personally love. The freshly hand-plucked delicate leaves are withered (dried) for several hours to get the moisture out of the tea leaves so that the leaves remain intact during the rolling process. The rolling process is done carefully in several stages with low-medium and high pressure to avoid breaking the leaves. This also brings the tea's essential oils and other aromatic flavors to life. After a complete rolling process of about 20-25 minutes, the leaves will oxidize or ferment for 8-10 hours.

During oxidation, the leaves are frequently turned and set in many different positions. This is critical to bring out the desired flavors and enhance the golden coloring of the buds. At the peak of their aroma, the leaves are sent to dry, capturing the flavors and aromas we love in our brewed cup or pot of tea.

This fantastic tea has low astringency or acid, a lot of toasty sweet notes, is deliciously smooth, and is sure to become a favorite for those tea lovers who savor pure black tea.

Whether you are a novice or a connoisseur, this organic tea might just become your new favorite.

I hope you enjoyed a peek into how this tea is crafted and love drinking it as much as I do.
