Organic Yacon Syrup

I'm excited to share 2 new products with you that have just arrived.

Organic Yacon Syrup is the first one I'm going to talk about.

I'm sure 99% of you have never heard of it. Although brand new to the US market, Yacon Syrup has been used in Nepal for many years as a healthier sugar alternative due to its uniquely low glycemic index (GI).

Simply put, organic Yacon Syrup has the lowest glycemic index of all sugar options. Unlike regular sugar and other alternatives, it only minimally impacts blood sugar.

The glycemic index of

  • Maple Syrup is 54,
  • Honey is 50,
  • Cane Sugar is 43,
  • Palm Sugar is 35,
  • Agave Nectar is 17, and
  • Yacon Syrup is only 13.7.

Plus, organic Yacon Syrup supports gut health with its prebiotic content. It also offers several anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. So, your whole body will love this product.

And wait! It is equally delicious! What does it taste like? It has a flavor similar to molasses but not quite as strong. Because organic Yacon Syrup is very sweet, a little goes a long way.

Organic Yacon Syrup works best in black teas, oolong teas, and selected herbal teas.

I tried it in Imperial Breakfast Black Tea, and it was delicious.

The recommended starting amount is 1 teaspoon, and that's about what I used for about 20 ounces β€” and yes, I drink big mugs of tea.

Organic Yacon Syrup didn't change the aroma of my tea, but I could taste its sweetness and a faint hint of what I would call a molasses flavor.

Overall, I loved it.

Drawstring Personal Disposable Tea Bags

The second new product is my Drawstring Personal Disposable Tea Bags.

These tea bags are made of the same premium material as the Personal Disposable Tea Bags. But instead of having a foldover flap, these bags offer a drawstring closure.

While both bags are great products, I think this tea bag may work better for teas with smaller pieces like rooibos and some herbals where there could still be "escapees" with the foldover bags. Since these tea bags do not contain any plastic material and are biodegradable, you can safely toss them in your compost pile.

I also like to pre-fill these bags with my favorite teas when traveling to avoid being at the mercy of sub-par teas. Yes, I'm a tea snob and proud of it. I will also keep a few pre-filled in my purse because you just never know when you're gonna need a good cup of tea.

Perfect Cup of Tea Spoon

Another product I want to give a nod to is my Perfect Cup of Tea Spoon.

It's not new to the store, but this spoon is something I've used for years at home and use daily in the store.

It's the perfect tool for measuring the correct amount of tea.

My husband and kids know to not wander off with my spoons at home under the penalty of "Wife/Mom Wrath." In the store, the spoons have a designated place where they live, so they are easy to find.

Before I discovered this spoon years ago, I used a teaspoon connected to my measuring set. Frankly, trying to measure the tea while keeping the other spoons out of the tea bags was a pain.

Anyway, it's a little tool that saves me time and frustration; if you don't have one or two, you may be missing out.

I look forward to hearing how you like the Yacon Syrup and the new Drawstring Personal Tea Bags.
