1. Light: Sunshine is great for growing plants, but direct light breaks down dried tea leaves quickly.
2. Air: Oxygen slowly steals away the rich flavor and aromatic oils.
3. Heat: High temperatures cause tea to degrade, so keep your stash away from ovens, stoves, and sunny windows.
4. Moisture: Humidity is tea's worst enemy. Dampness ruins dry leaves instantly.

How to Store Tea for Maximum Freshness

To shield your tea from those four enemies and enjoy a perfect cup every time, follow these simple storage rules:

• Use Airtight Containers: Sealed tins or opaque bags are essential for keeping air and moisture out.
• Keep It Cool and Dark: Store your tea inside a dark cabinet or pantry away from heat sources.
• Watch Out for Spices: Avoid storing tea near strong spices or coffee—tea leaves naturally absorb nearby smells!
• Skip the Fridge: Never refrigerate or freeze tea unless specifically recommended, as temperature swings create condensation.
• Avoid Steam: Keep your tea away from steam-producing appliances like dishwashers or coffee makers.

Pro Tip: Those clear, decorative glass jars look lovely on a kitchen counter, but they let in light! Opaque tins are tea’s version of sunscreen.
