Wow, can you believe it's already the third week of January? This month, I've been talking about teas to start the New Year with. I've introduced you to the Organic Fit Body Green Tea for physical fitness. I've also written about Dessert Teas to calm your sweet tooth and help you drop those pesky holiday pounds. Now I want to talk a little about teas that just scream self-care to me.
The holidays, both pre and post, can be stressful. I know I was constantly on the go between my personal and professional life. It's time to do some self-care.
Self-care means different things to different people.
A huge portion of my self-care is getting back into my exercise routine for the physical side of things, but what about your mental self-care?
Tea is the answer there for my mental self-care. I find nothing more soothing than sitting quietly with a wonderful cup of tea! Sometimes I'll brew a pot. Other times, I'll brew individual cups. The flavors do rotate depending on my mood, but I find I really enjoy jasmine teas. Something about them just calls to me and makes me feel special. Their aromas are delicate, and they are good for you! Another win-win!
Here are a few reasons to include jasmine tea in your daily teas. Both green tea bases and white teas offer these possible benefits:
- reduce the chances of cancer,
- improve your gut health,
- improve brain function,
- can help lower cholesterol,
- can help manage blood sugar levels,
- induces sleep and prevents insomnia,
- improves mental health and balances emotions,
- high in antioxidants, polyphenols, and catechins.
One of my absolute favorites is my Silver Needle White Tea with Jasmine. This tea is so unique looking with its long silver-colored rolled leaves that unfurl as it's brewed. The white tea base is a premium high-end tea that is hand-picked and processed during its short growing season. The taste is fabulous, being both delicate and flavorful at the same time. Last year I sold out early of this tea, and we had a long wait for the fresh, new batch to arrive. I can tell you I did the happy dance when it finally showed up! I tore open the box and immediately brewed myself a cup!
Organic Jasmine Bouquet Green Tea and Jasmine Pearls are also excellent choices. They are green teas with delicate jasmine flavors. The jasmine pearls are hand-rolled into balls that unfurl as the tea is brewed. Pretty fun to watch.
Two other jasmine teas I enjoy are the Organic Mind and Body White Tea and the Jazzy Peach White Tea. These white teas are a bit more delicate than their green tea counterparts but still very flavorful. Notes of delicate rosebuds in the Organic Mind and Body White Tea and peach in the Jazzy Peach White Tea make these teas a special treat.
Jasmine tea is also good over ice. I know we're in the middle of winter, and no one really thinks much about iced teas as we bundle up in sweaters, but file that bit of info away because spring is just around the corner.
I hope you incorporate tea self-care into your daily routine. Take those moments for yourself to regroup and recharge. It's so important, and you'll feel so much better both mentally and physically.
And for those of you who have trouble taking time for yourself and maybe feel a bit selfish or guilty doing it, I give you permission! You're worth it!
